Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Qualified Investor?
ANSWER: To be part of W8P, investors must meet certain qualifications, which classifies them as a Qualified Client. For a the full legal text outlining these qualifications, please see “qualified client” as defined in § 275.205-3 of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
In essence, the basic qualifications are as follows:
- You must have a net worth of over $2.2 million (excluding the value of your primary residence), or
- At least $1.1 million under management of the investment adviser, immediately after entering into our contract.
Is my money liquid?
ANSWER: The Eighth Wave Pairs Strategy Hedge Fund (“8WP”) stands out in the hedge fund industry due to its ability to provide exceptional liquidity. Unlike other hedge funds, 8WP offers a unique advantage in terms of trading cycles.
With short trading cycles generally ranging from 2 to 7 days, investors can easily access their funds with just a few days notice. This flexibility allows investors to have quick and convenient access to their cash, which is a significant advantage over other funds.
Furthermore, in between trade-cycles, short term uninvested capital still earns market interest. While there is undoubtedly more advantage in keeping funds invested to earn compounded returns, W8P recognizes the importance of flexibility. Therefore, the fund does not currently require any minimum commitment period, offering investors the freedom to withdraw their funds whenever they need them.
This combination of short trading cycles and easy access to cash positions makes W8P a top choice for investors seeking liquidity without compromising on potential returns.
How do I track my investment?
Wave 8 Wealth Management provides monthly statements of 8WP performance emailed to each investor. Our investor portal also provides a comprehensive view of our investors’ accounts.
Unlike conventional trading accounts, the investor portal and statements do not display each and every trade position on a daily basis. This is because W8P employs a pooled investment strategy using the capital of all investors for maximum market leverage. This ensures that investors benefit from collective trading activities, increasing their chances of generating higher returns.
In addition to the official monthly statements and investor portal, Wave 8 Wealth Management also provides a monthly newsletter that further enhances transparency. This newsletter discloses the fund’s performance, including all gains and losses. By presenting this information in a clear and concise manner, we ensure that our investors are well-informed about the progress of their investments.
What does this cost me?
W8P sets itself apart from other hedge funds by offering significantly lower fees to its clients. This unique approach aims to provide a more accessible and cost-effective investment solution for individuals and institutions alike. The fund’s fee structure is divided into three categories, as described below:
ANNUAL VARIABLE EXPENSES (charged pro-rata to each account, subject to change)
- Wave 8 Capital expenses – 1% to 3% of account value amortized annually, paid quarterly.
- ARB Fund Management & Compliance Services – 1/4% (25 basis points) of account value, amortized annually, paid quarterly.
- Formidium’s Investor Portal – .08% (8 basis points) of account value, amortized annually, paid monthly.
PERFORMANCE FEE
- Wave 8 Wealth Management takes a performance fee equal to 20% of the profits generated for each quarter, above our high-water mark. This performance fee is an incentive for the fund to deliver strong returns to its investors (similar performance fees or more are common in the private hedge fund industry).
With Wave 8 Wealth Management’s focus on delivering strong returns and minimizing costs, investors can have confidence in the fund’s commitment to maximizing their investment opportunities.
